Foundry in a Box

As part of our series into investigating different careers, students in the middle and senior years participated in a ‘Foundry in a Box’ incursion. Students heard about the varied opportunities within the metal casting industry and then learnt some of the the skills required when working with metal.

Students learnt how to prepare a mould and then poured molten metal to create a letter and completed it by carefully filing the letter to a smooth finish. We would like to thank Alan from the Australian Foundry Institute for volunteering and providing such an engaging and rich experience for our students, everyone was very proud of the letter that they made.
